What Quip does

Quip helps people ask questions and pay for useful answers. You can share a reward link, put money on a question for a named person, or ask through a person’s Quip link. You pay for a qualifying answer, not a favorable opinion or an action outside Quip. Nobody has to answer.

Payments and answers

We show what you pay before payment. Quip keeps a service fee from paid answers. For each paid question, we place a temporary hold on your card. We charge it only when an answer passes our check in time. Otherwise, we release the hold. Your bank may take more time to show the release. A person who answers receives their share through the payout method shown in the service. On a question for a named person, if the person who answers does not collect within 30 days, Quip keeps the payment. On other questions, if that person does not complete a required bank connection in time, we try to refund the payment.

Readers can pay to unlock an answer. A supporter may receive part of an unlock payment, after card fees, back to their original card, up to what they paid. This return depends on future unlocks and is not guaranteed. Contact us about a payment problem.

Who can see content

Public reward and question links are meant to be shared. On eligible questions, others can add support and benefit from the answer. Questions addressed to a public profile have public pages, even when answer access is limited. Questions sent by email have unlisted links, but anyone with a link can see the question heading. Questions sent through a person's Quip link start private. That person can publish an answer after replying. Anyone with a private link may be able to open it, so keep that link safe. Public pages and previews can be copied by others. Naming someone in a question does not mean they support Quip.

Your content and conduct

You keep your rights to what you submit. You let Quip store, check, display, and share it as needed to run the service and follow the access choice shown when you submit it. Submit only content you may share. Do not post threats, abuse, illegal content, or another person’s private information. We may reject or remove content that breaks these rules.

We use AI to check whether an answer addresses the question, includes required details, and appears genuine. These checks also look for spam, abuse, attempts to manipulate the check, and replies that avoid the question. We may use a second AI check when the first result is unclear. AI checks can make mistakes. An answer that passes the checks qualifies for payment even if you disagree with it or do not find it useful. Except where law requires otherwise, we do not refund a qualifying answer solely because you dislike it. Answers are the writer’s views, not Quip’s advice. Contact us if you believe a check or payment is wrong.

Privacy

Data we use

We receive names, email addresses, social account details when you sign in through a social provider, public profile details for people named in questions, questions, answers, and messages you submit. We also keep payment and payout status, answers you paid to read, sign-in cookies, IP addresses, and records that help us prevent abuse and fix errors. You enter card and bank details on provider pages.

Why we use it

We use Surrge for page views, referrers, browser performance, and error reports. Its browser tracker does not use cookies. We also send server logs, request traces, and deploy records to Surrge to find service problems.

We use this data to open questions, confirm identity, check content and answers with AI, collect and return payments, send service email, make payouts, prevent abuse, and support users. AI providers receive the question or answer text needed for a check or a short preview.

Who receives it

Public pages show the content and names described above. People with a private link can see its content. We use providers for hosting, human checks, email, sign-in, AI checks, payments, and payouts. We send question text to the payment provider as a checkout description, even for private questions. We shorten long questions. A reward payout provider may receive the question heading and sender name. Provider terms may apply on their pages.

Your choices

You choose answer access when you create a question for a named person. You can ask us to review a question about you or request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data. We keep records to run the service, handle payment disputes, and meet legal duties. Public content remains until we remove it. Some transaction or security records may need to stay after a deletion request. Email us at hello@quip.money.
